Tonsillectomy (Tonsil Surgery)
Tonsils, which assume roles in defence mechanism of our bodies, are lymph tissues located on both sides of the throat, behind tongue and different from surrounding tissues.
Except for some special cases in adult patients, snoring, sleep obstruction, respiratory arrest (apnea) due to recurrent hypertrophy (growth) of the tonsils due to chronic infections and consequent narrowing of the airways, at least 7 in the last year, at least in the last two years. Tonsil surgery is recommended in cases such as 5, or at least 3 febrile tonsil infections in the last three years, and frequent ear infection attacks as a result of these infections.
Recurrent tonsil infections in childhood have negative effects on growth and development. In such cases, where the necessary treatment is not performed and adequate precautions are not taken early, we may encounter adverse conditions such as rheumatic heart diseases.
It is the method I use because of the advantages of almost no bleeding with the operation performed using the Thermal Welding method, less pain complaints compared to the classical methods, and faster wound healing.
Tonsil surgery can be done in children over 3 years old. It is performed under general anesthesia. You can be discharged on the same day 4 hours after the operation by feeding the appropriate diet for the operation.
